Trying to resurrect my blog!

Hello friends and family! It has been several years since I have posted and I am not even sure it will work.  Since we are off on a major adventure soon, I am going to do a trial post and you will have to comment so I will know it is working! Our major adventure is a trip to Hawaii!!!!  We had it planned for April of 2021 for our 50th Anniversary celebration but Covid had other ideas and the trip was cancelled.  Now, not quite a year later we are within 24 hours of departure....flying to San Francisco and CRUISING for 15 days with dear friends and travel companions!  So come along! (Don't forget to comment!)

Adventures in Michigan!

I forgot to tell you that when we walked across the bridge I did not experience the feeling of height!  If I had looked straight down over the railing, or even through the grate I would probably have felt it, but I never got shaky or frightened at all.  You can see that I walked on the grate for part of the way and also was able to stand near the railing to take this picture of the freighter.  Unfortunately, as large as this freighter is, you do not get a sense of height in this picture either...but believe me....it IS HIGH!   The other thing that surprised us was the incline was gradual enough so we never truly felt like we were walking uphill!!!  It was not a difficult walk and only wish that the weather had been better.   The bridge IS high enough and the wind WAS strong enough that there was sway at the top.  All of the sudden we were sort of staggering!  It was funny as we watched the people in front of us!   Woul...

Bucket List!

It dawned on me yesterday last week that I often think about blogging and sharing with you the things we are doing in our retirement.  I have gone so far as sitting down at the computer and drafting a post, or beginning to.  But it can take me up to an hour to get through the process....collecting my thoughts, collecting my photos from my iPhone or my camera, getting them into the computer, filing them where I can FIND them again....and then inserting them into the post.  Very often I get interrupted with something....or just feel that I should be spending that hour doing something else....and it just doesn't get done. So...time passes and then I feel guilty.  Then I feel like I have to apologize...then that comes before a post of what we are actually DOING and I end up running out of time.  My list of drafts has several posts that begin with apologies and never get to the actual meat of the message!  Oh my!  So...here I am again...in the wee hours...

Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner!

In my earlier post today I offered a $50 reward to the first person to guess and comment where we are.  My cousin, John, was the ONLY person to comment.  Good luck collecting, John!!!  By the way, who is Mudbone? Anyway...since 1971 Ron and I have driven through Memphis on our way north, or our way south, many times.  Many, many times.  Many. Many. Many. Times!!!!  But we have never visited Graceland until today. In fact, a tiny piece of lagniappe:  (Lagniappe means a "little something extra")  I was riding north on a train through Memphis at just about the MOMENT that Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977.  Seriously!  So...today we visited there.  As you might imagine, it is beautifully decorated in some areas, very NORMAL in other areas and a little outlandish in others!  We toured the main level and the recreation area downstairs.  The second floor is kept private and not on tour,   This piano i...

When you are traveling in your retirement, do you still call it "vacation"??

Well....we are off on an adventure!!! Some of you know where we are headed and why....but the rest of you will have to wait and see! Yesterday we left home around 11-ish with our camper and headed north on I-55.  Somewhere around Granada, MS, we ran into this: It really wasn't as bad as it looks.  When I saw this, I checked the radar on my iPhone and the cell was so tiny it hardly showed up.  It was just a tiny red dot, so we drove right through it!  The rain was really really hard for 3-4 minutes, but then we drove right out the other side!!!  And I think this picture is awesome!!! We pulled into our pre-determined campground around 6 pm. See if you can guess where we are! $50 to the first person to comment with the right answer!  (Just kidding about the $50 but please comment!!! )   Here's some hints: More about our adventure later today! Seeya later! me

Michigan Summer!

Oh I am SO SO poor at keeping this blog up-to-date! I guess I could go on and on about why I haven't but I won't.  I will just tell you what I am up to right now! Most of you who read my blog are close enough friends/family to know that we are currently visiting my childhood home in Michigan. I cannot believe we have been here two weeks tomorrow!  Where does the time go?  As usual, Ron has spent his time fishing, watching sports on TV....and his favorite pass-time here is GARAGE SAILING!  We usually try to go on Thursdays and Fridays...I think last week we even went on Saturday!!! Yesterday Mom did not go with us, so it was just my sister, Joanne, her hubby Larry, Ron and myself.  We always have such fun!  Whoever the driver is has to be a good sport because they are getting directions and commands from all the passengers!!!  The object in the forground may not be recognizable to some of you.  It has to do with the removal of a winte...
